Pharos is the first and biggest network of Schools of Foreign Languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Greek, Bulgarian for foreigners) and Computing in Bulgaria. Its service offer also includes the provision of exam services for Foreign Languages and Computing, educational book sales, as well as the organization of educational group-excursions. It was established in 1991 as a branch of the Strategakis Schools network of Northern Greece. Founded on 40 years of accumulated expertise in the ELT field, it immediately acquired leader status in Bulgaria. With 30 schools in Sofia and all major Bulgarian cities it is second in size only to the Greek network of 100 schools. The unparalleled standards of teaching in Pharos are reflected in the fact that more than 2500 of its students have been successful with their international Language and Computing Examinations.

Since 1996 Pharos’ Central Administration in Sofia has become the network’s Regional Centre for Eastern Europe, administering and coordinating the group’s 15 Schools of Foreign Languages and Computing in Albania and FYROM. In this context it provides in-house training to teaching and administrative staff of educational units, coordinates marketing and sales activities, controls the quality of the educational service offer, conducts the financial planning (budgeting, forecasts etc.) and acts as buffer for cash-flow purposes, and it decides over major strategic issues in all three countries.

The group is currently planning the development of a new regional network in Ukraine, for which the Bulgarian headquarters will also be responsible.
